Austin, Texas, is known for its eclectic culture and vibrant music scene, but did you know it has a plethora of adventure opportunities? Austin has become a haven for outdoor enthusiasts seeking to immerse themselves in nature without straying too far from the city.

Whether you’re a hiking aficionado, water sports lover, or simply someone who enjoys being outside, Austin offers a diverse range of activities that caters to everyone.

Take a peek at some of the best experiences Austin has to offer!

Go Swimming at Barton Creek Greenbelt

Looking for a place to cool down? Check out the Barton Springs Pool in Austin.

Within Zilker Park lies a huge, spring-fed swimming hole surrounded by acres of gardens and pecan trees. The best part is that the pool is fed by spring water which maintains a year-round temperature of about 68 degrees. The spring bubbles up 27 million gallons per day!

Zipline over Lake Travis

Lake Travis Zipline Adventures is home to the longest and fastest ziplines in Texas! With five long zipline experiences, this is an excursion the whole family, or group of friends, will love!

Sunset tours and Sunday discounts are just a few of the perks they offer.

While you can explore the lake on boat, seeing it from the air is a unique way to visit Lake Travis and visit Austin’s surrounding hotspots.

Explore Lady Bird Lake

The best part is, there are no motorized boats allowed. That way, you can relax and enjoy the water at your leisure.

Lady Bird Lake is right next to downtown Austin, making it easy to escape the city’s hustle and bustle within minutes.

Visit the Bat Bridge at Sunset

Every evening between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m., thousands of bats put on an aerial flight show. Their departure typically lasts 45 minutes to an hour. To capture this world-renowned event, head to the Congress Avenue Bridge outside of downtown Austin, either on foot or by kayak.

You can watch the bats take flight from various vantage points. Guided cruises will take you right under the bridge and give you a tour of this unique habitat.
